SCHOOL PRODUCTION - THE KEYMASTER

The school’s annual musical production is always a popular event and is held in the village hall.  All the children are encouraged to get involved in the production, either on stage or behind the scenes.  We are very fortunate to have a small group of adults who kindly volunteer to take part in the performances, something which the children particularly enjoy!  Other shows have included Oliver!, Sheherezade, Blue Crystal and Robin Hood.

ARTS AND HUMANITIES WEEK

The school took part in an exciting project run by The National Gallery called ‘Take One Picture’, based on Renoir’s “The Umbrellas”.  Children worked in house groups, exploring the painting in a wide variety of ways and made their own reproductions in various formats.  Children created both period and modern photographic versions of the painting; they were also asked to paint a specific section of the painting -  a selection of these were then joined together to create a collage of “The Umbrellas”.  Drama sessions took place throughout the week with children creating their own scenarios based on the painting.  The project also involved a written descriptive piece based on a chosen character in the painting.

The children and staff certainly had the greatest of fun with this particular project, which also had an historical and geographical focus.  Work was submitted to The National Gallery to be considered for an exhibition in London .

 FEZEKA CHOIR VISIT

We felt it a great privilege that the South African Fezeka Choir took time off from its busy touring schedule to come to visit the school.  The children greeted our guests with an African song of welcome before joining Choir members for a series of musical workshops.  These were followed by the largest football game the school has ever seen!  The Fezeka Choir later sang a few songs from its repertoire with the strong, uplifting and vibrant voices sounding simply wonderful, leaving the audience completely awe-struck!
